President's Award for Teachers 2012
The nomination period for President's Award for Teachers 2012 is open.
The award gives national recognition to the critical role of teachers play in moulding the future of our nation. These excellent teachers prepare their students for life. They are models of commitment to continual learning and enterprise. They are those who, through word and deed, inspire both their students and peers. The award will be presented by the President of the Republic of Singapore on Teachers' Day. The closing date for nominations is 24 Feb 2012.

SEED Professional Focus Group
With the establishment of the Academy of Singapore Teachers (AST), the SEED Movement was refreshed through the setup of the SEED Professional Focus Group (SEED PFG) situated within AST at the end of 2010. The setup of SEED PFG aims to re-sharpen the focus and provide impetus to the SEED movement so as to bring it to the next lap where lower primary teachers would gain a stronger sense of ownership and identity while being supported by AST in their professional development. AST invites outstanding overseas educators who are themselves classroom practitioners as OEIRs to share their expertise on teaching pedagogies and classroom practices. This is in line with the current professional development focus to strengthen the theory-practice nexus, as well as with the sharing of effective classroom practices that will enhance the pedagogical content knowledge of Singapore teachers.
